Appraising Green II
3.
5-Hour Course

Instructor:   Michael E. Deweese, Certified Residential
Appraiser and Real Estate Broker

Overview:

Now that we have already learned what makes a site or a building green & what makes a product sustainable, we will continue to examine green & energy efficient products & systems more in depth.  Appraising Green is the course intended to open our eyes & take an initial “look” at what is happening in the market.  Appraising Green II will help us “see” what is happening.  Just what does “green” building & remodeling mean in dollar$ and $ense to the market?  Does it make $ense to spend the money for green & energy efficient products?  In this course, we will revisit a few of the “green” & energy efficient products with which we are familiar.  We will also examine some of the new “green” & energy efficient products that are being heavily advertised in the market place as being the “newest & best” and a “must have” for the builder, the homeowner, or the end user.  As we study these products, we will use case studies to estimate the cost-benefit of the products & the estimated value to the user, the buyer, & the seller.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants should:

  • Recognize "green" products that you may have been overlooking

  • Identify "green" products that are entering the market

  • Identify the energy efficient products that we see regularly

  • Examine some of the new energy efficient products available to the builder and homeowner

  • Understand how to determine the estimated contributory value of these products to the user, the buyer and the seller
