When lenders, AMC companies, owners, and builders critique appraisals and notice that a piece of property is in a specific zone, questions may arise concerning the zone.  This course is specifically designed to help improve the level of an appraiserís/realtorís competency and the ability to respond to these questions by increasing their understanding of the basics of Specific Zoning, whether vacant or zone, and illegal. 

This 3.5 hour course is a workshop for individuals interested in learning more about the Mission, Goals and Objectives of Planning & Zoning Commissions.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the Mission, Goals & Objectives of Planning & Zoning Commissions

  • Understand the basics of Specific Zoning

  • Define different typical zones

  • Explain the difference between non-conforming (Grandfathered) use, structure or site, no zoning, illegal and those implications

  • Understand the role(s) & limitations of Variance or Adjustment Boards, Conditional Use Permits

Length:  One half-day 3.5 hour continuing education seminar.
